What is the difference between traditional talk-therapy and Life Coaching?

Therapy typically focuses on understanding and healing current challenges by exploring your past — working through trauma, mental health conditions, and emotional wounds in a clinical environment. You may be referred to a therapist by your GP, or engage directly.

Coaching is present and future-focused, and focusses on helping people overcome behaviours and habit that create obstacles to achieving their goals in one or many areas of their life. We use understanding of the past to help identify self-limiting beliefs and unmet needs, in order to explain current behaviours and habits, then work practically on changing them. Coaching is outcome-driven, time-limited, and focused on providing practical tools to shift behavioural patterns and move forward with greater confidence and self-awareness.

If you're currently experiencing significant mental health challenges, struggling with a mental illness or trauma, I'll always recommend working with a therapist alongside or before coaching.

How do I know if Coaching is right for me?

Coaching works best when you're ready to take an honest look in the mirror, and open to understanding that your own choices are the biggest contributor to your outcomes. It is not about self-judgement, recrimination and blame. It is about compassionately exploring the beliefs about yourself and the world you formed as a child, and the protective behaviours you developed in response. It is about willingness to do the work between sessions to replace those beliefs and choosing responses that align with who you are and the life you want to shape. You don't need to have everything figured out — that's what we're here for. But coaching isn't therapy, and it isn't a passive process. If you're unsure whether it's the right fit, book a discovery call and we'll figure it out together.

Can coaching help with mental illness or trauma?

The short answer: coaching is not a treatment for mental illness or trauma. Any coach who claims otherwise is overstepping in a way that can cause real harm to clients. Claims that coaching can "cure" conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or PTSD are not just misleading - they're dangerous. If you encounter a coach making those claims, walk away.

That said, coaching can play a genuinely valuable supporting role alongside appropriate clinical care. Someone working with a therapist or psychiatrist may find coaching helps them translate that therapeutic insight into practical daily change - building self-awareness, recognising triggers, and developing tools for regulation and response.

Trauma is more nuanced. The impact of a traumatic experience varies enormously depending on the person, the nature of the trauma, and how it has been processed. Most trauma survivors can be well-supported through coaching either alongside or after therapy. Clinical support should always be sought first.

Some may not be aware that the challenges they are experiencing are related to unprocessed trauma. If you have think you may be impacted by trauma and have not had any professional help, I would recommend reaching out to a therapist first either directly or via a GP referral.

Integrity is a core value throughout Eudaia's practice. If I believe clinical support would serve you better - or alongside our work together - I'll say so. Your wellbeing will always be Eudaia's #1 priority.

How many sessions will I need?

For tailored individual coaching, the number of sessions depends on your objectives. Most individual programs run across 6-10 sessions. During your initial consult, Mish will recommend the most effective path to get you to your goals. The daily/weekly practices and exercises in between sessions are key to embedding change - and the biggest influence in how soon you notice changes.

Eudaia Transform programs have set content, and vary in length according to the program selected and the time you have availalble to commit to the work. Our current offerings range from 8-12 weeks. More information is available on our Eudaia Transform page.

How much does it cost?

Clarity Sessions are $150 for one-off assistance creating goals or help defining a path forward, however if you decide to extend working with Eudaia either through a set program or direct coaching, this will be deducted from your total costs.

Tailored packages for individuals, couples or small groups priced based on your individual goals, which determine content and duration. Book a free discovery call and we'll talk through what's right for you and what that investment looks like. Mish will provide you with a recommended approach and indicative cost. For couples and groups total program costs are higher as session duration is extended, however this works out to a significantly lower cost per individual depending on group size.

Eudaia Transform program pricing starts at $1200, and varies depending on the program selected, delivery approach, number of participants and duration. These programs include weekly live coaching sessions, online modules to complete at home, journal exercises, practices to incorporate in to your daily life and forever access to our online groups and free additional resources.

All programs include ongoing access to the Eudaia Community where you can connect with others on a similar journey, share your story, access free mini-courses and helpful resources, and receive discounted access to events and extended programs.

Why do you charge the full program costs up front?

Because commitment matters. The research is clear — people who are financially invested show up differently. They do the work, invest time and get the results. Paying upfront is your first act of choosing yourself.

If cost is a genuine constraint for you, at our discretion we may offer installment plans or, for set programs, modify content to reduce costs. Ask about this on your discovery call.

What happens during a Discovery Call?

It's a free, no-obligation 30-60 minute conversation. We'll talk about where you are, what you're looking for, and whether working together makes sense. There's no hard sell. If Eudaia is not the right fit, I'll tell you.

What's the difference between 1:1 coaching and a prebuilt program?

All our prebuilt programs, including Eudaia Transform, follow a structured curriculum designed around a specific theme — identity, relationships, purpose, or life direction. They combine online modules with live coaching sessions.

1:1 coaching is fully tailored to you — no set curriculum, just a focused program built around your specific goals and challenges. Not sure which is right for you? The discovery call will help clarify that.

Are coaching sessions confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in sessions is confidential. The exception is if I have genuine concern for your safety or the safety of someone else — in which case I have a professional obligation to act. This is explained fully in your client agreement before we begin.

What if I need to reschedule a session?

Life happens and flexibility is important. We ask for at least 48 hours notice to reschedule so we can offer your slot to someone else and find a time that works for you.

If your circumstances change and you need to adjust your coaching schedule more broadly, just let us know and we'll discuss the best way to move forward.

Failure to attend a scheduled session without explanation may, at Eudaia's discretion, incur the standard hourly rate in addition to any existing charges. Repeated unexplained no-shows may result in cancellation of the remaining program, with missed sessions deducted from any refunded amount.

What if I start a program and feel it's not working for me?

Think of engaging a coach in the same way you would engaging a personal trainer to meet a specific fitness goal. They'll provide you with a program that might consist of 3 workouts per week over 8 weeks, and agree to meet you once a week to track progress and make adjustments. If you don't follow the program, and don't let your instructor know if there are elements you are struggling with, you wouldn't reasonably expect to achieve your goals.

In the same way, the success of your program is dependent on you dedicating time and effort to practice. Before you commit to a program, we will provide you with clear information about what to expect, and what you will be required to do. We'll give you all the tools you need to support your progress, but we can't do the work for you.

If you are completing exercises and practice, but feel the program isn't meeting your expectations or that you are not receiving the information or support you need, please tell us. That conversation matters as it's valuable feedback we can use to improve our services. Sometimes there's a specific element we can adjust — the pace, the approach, the focus area — and a direct conversation resolves it quickly.

If after that discussion you feel it still isn't the right fit, you're entitled to a refund for the portion of the program you haven't yet completed. Refunds are calculated based on the number of sessions and modules remaining at the time of your request.

The full refund formula and, where applicable, cancellations fees, are outlined in our Terms & Conditions, which you'll receive before committing to any program. We want you to feel confident in your investment — and we'd rather you leave with integrity intact than stay somewhere that isn't serving you.

What platform do you use for remote sessions?

Online sessions are held via Zoom. You'll receive a link when you book.

Do you work with people outside Australia?

Yes. All sessions are available online via video call, so location isn't a barrier. Reach out via our Contact form available on the Contact Us page so that we can organise a call at a time that works for us both.

What does Eudaia mean?

The name Eudaia is derived from Aristotle's philosophy Eudaimonia, which posits that a fulfilling life, a flourishing life, is achieved by making choices that align with our values, our purpose. My late father explored this further in the context how we may apply it in contemporary society in his book 'Eudaimonia: Happiness is Not Enough'. Eudaia is named in honour and in furtherence of his work.
